IPv6 is the new version of the public IP address system for the internet.
IPv4 adresses are running out as new devices are being added to the net every day.
While IPv4 uses 32-bit addresses, IPv6 uses 128-bit addresses, which increases the number of possible addresses by an exponential amount.
For example, IPv4 allows 4,294,967,296 addresses to be used (2^32).
IPv6 is the future and allows for over 340 sextilion IP addresses.
That should be enough for some time.
